For over 100 years, LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell has provided the legal community with its Lawyer Rating system, which is based exclusively on a peer-review process. The Ratings have become a useful resource for evaluating lawyers for hiring as outside counsel, for referrals, or for when seeking co-counsel in another jurisdiction. The peer review process includes seeking confidential rating opinions from judges, and opposing attorneys, and canvassing the entire legal community for opinions regarding an attorney’s legal ability and adherence to ethical standards. Most attorneys never achieve a rating. There are three possible ratings for those who do: CV, BV, or AV. Only a small percentage of attorneys achieve the AV rating. These attorneys have demonstrated to their colleagues that they possess the highest quality in legal ability and adhere to the highest legal ethics. The AV rating is the gold standard in measuring an attorney’s reputation and ability. Martindale-Hubbell's Ratings are considered invaluable when evaluating a lawyer. When looking for an attorney, making referrals, or looking for counsel in another jurisdiction, lawyers and prospective clients need to have confidence in the individual under consideration. By reviewing the Ratings, they can select counsel with superior ethics, as well as the desired level of professional experience. Our law firm is rated AV by this Rating System. “A” is the highest rating in terms of quality of legal services and “V” is the highest in terms of professional ethics. In addition, several of our attorneys are individually rated “AV”. These ratings attest to a lawyer's legal ability and professional ethics, and reflect the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and Judiciary.
