Arnold Schwarzenegger May Face Top Divorce Attorney

Posted on May 21, 2011
According to reports, Maria Shriver has hired a top divorce attorney to represent her in the event that she and her husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, file for a divorce. People magazine has reported that Shriver has retained Laura Wasser, described as a "prominent Los Angeles family law attorney," to represent her.

However, Shriver has yet to announce whether or not she intends to divorce the famous Hollywood actor. The couple is reportedly separated at this time.

Recently, news about an affair that Schwarzenegger had with a longtime family employee surfaced. The woman has been identified as Mildred Patricia Baena. Ms. Baena served as the family's housekeeper for more than 15 years.

Schwarzenegger and Ms. Baena had a son who was born in October 1997. The couple kept the child and their affair a secret for nearly 14 years.

Like Arizona, California is a community property state. In the event that Schwarzenegger and Shriver go through a divorce and there is no pre-nup, Shriver may be entitled to half of the assets that were accrued during their marriage.
