Alex White, pitcher with the Colorado Rockies, was recently arrested for a DUI in Scottsdale. White has been in Arizona with the Rockies for spring training. The arrest came shortly after 9:00 PM on Saturday, March 3rd, in Old Town Scottsdale near 1st Avenue and 75th Street.
Dan O’Dowd, general manager of the Rockies, stated that White consumed two drinks that night. It has been reported that White failed roadside sobriety tests and a breathalyzer. This is the first time White has been arrested for drunk driving.
The Colorado Rockies Baseball Club has said of the incident that “This type of behavior is taken very seriously by our organization, and through our discussions with [White] we know that he clearly understands the seriousness of his poor decisions, the harm that could have been inflicted on others and the embarrassment his mistake has caused himself, his family and the organization.” Despite this, the general manager has stated that White is not expected to face disciplinary actions.
According to the Denver Post, White spoke to his teammates and management about the arrest and apologized. White explained that he was embarrassed and called what he did “stupid.”
